With the Double Ninth Festival coming up, on October 28th, Gao Shiwen, Mayor of Nanchang City, paid visits to communities, welfare institutions and the homes of elderly Party members to extend greetings and best wishes to the elderly, investigate home-based elderly care services and other work, and extend festival greetings and best wishes to all the elderly in the city.
Upon arriving at the Dong’an Community Home-based Elderly Care Service Center in Taohua Sub-district, Xihu District, Gao inspected the elderly activity center and various functional areas, with a focus on learning about the operation of the Happy Canteen. He also listened to an introduction to the operation of the “Happy Times” elderly care service mutual aid time platform. The platform has registered 863 service recipients and 4,528 individual volunteers, and has completed over 12,400 individual orders, forming a virtuous cycle of “time for service”. Gao pointed out that the “Happy Times” platform has explored a new path for mutual assistance in elderly care, effectively stimulating the vitality of social assistance for the elderly. The city should promptly make overall plans, set standards, adhere to one platform and one system, actively promote the “Happy Times” elderly care service model of Xihu District throughout the city, encourage “young elders to care for the elderly”, and continuously stimulate the potential of community mutual assistance.
